Shipping policy
Shipping Policy
At Marie Thüler, each artwork is prepared with the same care and sensitivity with which it is created.
Every original painting is handled individually, carefully protected, and shipped from Switzerland with close attention to presentation, safety, and traceability.
1. Order Preparation
All artworks are prepared for shipment within 3 to 5 business days, unless a different timeframe is stated on the product page or communicated to you personally.
Preparation includes:
- final inspection of the artwork,
- careful protective packaging,
- inclusion of the certificate of authenticity where applicable,
- and organization of shipment with a suitable transport service.
For certain destinations, larger formats, or special handling requirements, preparation may take slightly longer. If so, you will be informed by email.
2. Shipping Origin
All orders are shipped from Switzerland.
3. Where We Ship
We offer shipping within Switzerland and to a selection of international destinations.
If your country appears at checkout, shipping is available for your destination.
If your country is not listed, you are welcome to contact the studio before placing your order. Whenever possible, we will be pleased to review a bespoke shipping solution.
4. Shipping Fees
Shipping fees are calculated at checkout whenever possible and depend on:
- destination country,
- size and weight of the artwork,
- packaging requirements,
- and the level of transport service required.
For certain oversized, delicate, or exceptional works, shipping may be arranged by individual quotation. In such cases, we will contact you after your order to confirm the most suitable and secure delivery method.
Any additional services requested by the collector, such as premium delivery options, special handling, or bespoke packaging, may result in supplementary charges.
5. Packaging and Protection
Each artwork is packed with great care to preserve its beauty and integrity in transit.
Original watercolors on paper
Original watercolors are generally shipped:
- protected in an archival sleeve or protective wrap,
- reinforced with rigid support materials,
- and placed in sturdy flat packaging or a carefully adapted shipping format depending on the artwork’s dimensions and requirements.
Acrylic or oil paintings on canvas
Original acrylic or oil paintings on canvas are generally shipped:
- carefully wrapped with protective non-abrasive materials,
- cushioned to protect edges and painted surfaces,
- and packed in a reinforced carton or protective art shipping box suited to the format.
For larger or especially delicate works, additional protective measures may be used at the studio’s discretion.
6. Framed and Unframed Works
Unless otherwise stated on the product page, artworks are sold and shipped unframed.
If a work is offered framed, or if a specific framing arrangement has been agreed in writing, additional preparation and shipping time may apply.
7. Shipping Methods
Orders are shipped using a tracked delivery service selected according to the destination, dimensions, value, and fragility of the artwork.
For certain destinations or high-value pieces, a signature upon delivery may be required.
The studio reserves the right to choose the most appropriate shipping partner and service level in order to ensure the safest and most reliable transit possible.
8. Estimated Delivery Times
Delivery times vary depending on destination, customs processing, and transport conditions.
Estimated transit times after dispatch are generally as follows:
- Switzerland: approximately 1 to 5 business days
- Europe: approximately 3 to 10 business days
- International destinations outside Europe: approximately 5 to 15 business days
These timeframes are estimates only and are not guaranteed.
Delays may occasionally occur due to customs, local postal services, remote areas, seasonal periods, severe weather, or other circumstances beyond our control.
9. Tracking
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a shipping confirmation email including tracking information whenever available.
Please allow a short delay for tracking updates to appear after the label has been created or the parcel has been collected by the carrier.
10. Customs Duties, Import Taxes, and Local Charges
Orders shipped outside Switzerland may be subject to:
- customs duties,
- import taxes,
- VAT or sales tax,
- handling fees,
- or other charges imposed by the destination country.
These charges are not included in the artwork price or shipping fee unless explicitly stated otherwise at checkout.
The collector is solely responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, clearance fees, or local charges required by the destination country.
We recommend consulting your local customs authority before placing an international order if you would like more precise information.
11. Customs Delays
International shipments may be delayed by customs procedures.
Such delays are outside the control of the studio and do not constitute grounds for cancellation, refund of shipping fees, or compensation.
12. Delivery Address
Please ensure that your shipping address is complete and accurate at the time of purchase.
Marie Thüler cannot be held responsible for delays, failed deliveries, or additional costs resulting from:
- an incorrect or incomplete address,
- refusal of delivery,
- failure to pay customs or import charges,
- or repeated absence at the time of delivery when signature is required.
If a shipment is returned to the studio due to one of the reasons above, any reshipping costs will be the responsibility of the customer.
13. Delivery Attempts and Returned Parcels
If a parcel is returned to the studio because delivery could not be completed, we will contact you to arrange reshipment.
Reshipment will be invoiced at the applicable rate unless the return resulted solely from an error attributable to the studio or the carrier.
14. Inspection Upon Delivery
We kindly ask you to inspect your parcel promptly upon arrival.
If the packaging appears visibly damaged, we recommend:
- taking clear photographs of the outer packaging before opening,
- taking photographs of the artwork and all protective materials,
- and contacting us as soon as possible.
Any transport-related issue should be reported to us within 48 hours of delivery, so that we may assist you as effectively as possible.
15. Damaged in Transit
While every precaution is taken in packaging and preparation, damage in transit may exceptionally occur.
If your artwork arrives damaged, please contact us promptly at admin@mariethuler.ch and include:
- your order number,
- photographs of the packaging,
- photographs of the artwork,
- and a brief description of the issue.
No packaging should be discarded until the claim has been reviewed, as the carrier may require evidence for inspection.
Where appropriate, we will work with you and the carrier to find the most suitable resolution.
16. Lost Parcels
If your parcel appears to be lost in transit, please contact us at admin@mariethuler.ch.
We will open an inquiry with the shipping carrier where applicable and keep you informed throughout the process. Resolution times may vary depending on the carrier and destination.
17. Risk and Transfer of Responsibility
Responsibility for the artwork transfers to the customer upon delivery to the shipping address provided at checkout, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
If a shipment is marked as delivered by the carrier but cannot be located, we will do our best to assist; however, Marie Thüler cannot guarantee reimbursement where proof of delivery has been provided by the carrier, except where required by law or where carrier liability applies.
18. Refused Shipments
If a shipment is refused by the recipient, any return shipping costs, customs charges, duties, taxes, storage fees, or related expenses incurred will be deducted from any refund where a refund is applicable under our policies.
19. Special Requests
For collectors, interior designers, gifts, or destination-sensitive deliveries, the studio may be able to arrange special handling upon request.
This may include, where feasible:
- delayed dispatch,
- bespoke packaging,
- delivery coordination,
- or additional shipping guidance for a particular destination.
If you have a specific request, we invite you to contact the studio before placing your order.
